Keeping a block theme fast

Small front-end choices that keep a block theme feeling fast on shared hosting.

  • Self-host two font families instead of a CDN waterfall.
  • Keep the first viewport to brand, headline, and one CTA or featured story.
  • Lazy-load below-the-fold images and avoid heavy page builders.

Note: Theme.json fontFace with local woff2 files is usually enough—no extra enqueue needed.
